It seems the stress of planning a wedding pushed Alec Baldwin over the edge after hitting a paparazzo for invading his personal space outside the New York City Marriage License Bureau on Tuesday morning (June 19).
After getting his marriage license, the "30 Rock" actor was caught on camera getting into a physical altercation with a New York Daily News photographer but Baldwin's rep has released a statement claiming, "there were no punches thrown".
"As Alec and his fiancée were leaving City Hall, a 'civilian' walking in front of Alec positioned himself to obstruct the view of a photographer aggressively trying to shoot the couple," Baldwin's rep, Matthew Hiltzik, tells E! News.
"The photographer was clearly frustrated, pushed past the bystander and assaulted Alec with his camera. There were no punches thrown, and any subsequent physical contact was simply Alec protecting himself." Hiltzik added.
The 54-year-old - who is engaged to Hilaria Thomas - took to Twitter to vent after the incident saying, "A 'photographer' almost hit me in the face with his camera this morning. #allpaparazzishouldbewaterboarded".
Alec then made a reference to the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman tweeting, "I suppose if the offending paparazzi was wearing a hoodie and I shot him, it would all blow over…"
Continuing his Twitter rant, Alec posted, "The photographer who assaulted me has (belatedly) gone to a hospital claiming injuries. Colin Myler and his NOTW scams come to NY..." then added, "Ppl who work in the entertainment industry keep appts w the press on a regular basis. Paparazzi assaulting you on the street duznt count."
